Case in point.
Well hello there Rikki Barnes! I only started reading about her recently, but she is seriously amazing.
The Indelicates - Flesh (one of my favourite songs of theirs, up there with Our Daughters Will Never Be Free)

I’ve started reading Incredible Hercules recently, and Amadeus Cho (with pup in tow!) is exactly as amazing as everyone told me he would be. :D

The real question that must be considered before delving into any of this, is whether or not this is a piece of art meant to be analyzed and interpreted by the viewer. I’m well aware that there are multiple possiblitiles of interpreting basically anything that exists, given every human beings unique experiences and preconceptions that may influence their perception. I have an English degree and I have no doubt that you could assign a group of English majors the task of analyzing this piece of art, using every form of Critical Theory that exists, from deconstruction to Marxist theory, but is there a point to doing so? Upon first glance, the facial expression alone that the artist portrays on Wonder Woman seems to indicate that the intention of this artwork leans farther into the whimsical than the academic. In fact, it might be a good idea to ask the artist herself, if she had any underlying intentions of undermining feminism when she created this piece. Perhaps, it was just something light-hearted, a fun piece to draw, which she thought people would derive joy from viewing. Some pieces of art are not meant to be interpreted as having any kind of “meaning” beyond pure visual enjoyment. “Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar”, as the saying goes.
So you managed to complete an entire English degree without ever coming across the concept of Death of the Author, or the fact that creator intent often means very little? Interesting.
Anyway, it looks like I slept through most of this conversation so I won’t get into it at great length - basically I agree with everything Alliterate said (as per usual).
(Edit: I just reblogged this once, but somehow managed to break my post and had to try again. Dammit, Tumblr!)
